Hopefully I will find the pictures to add to this post. This afternoon, Steve and I went to the movie, Parental Guidance, which was predictable but...heartwarming. Maybe it was heartwarming because, I thought about my mom. At the end of the movie, they had many old pictures of families...some of which could be posted on the awkward family pictures site.
So as I was watching the pictures scroll through with the credits, I thought of mom's first meeting of our son-in-law, Andy. We went over to mom's apartment because Jane wanted Grammie to meet Andy who was fast becoming very special in her life.
Now you will have use your imagination as to what happened until I can find the pictures to upload.
Picture this:
Jane and Andy were talking and enjoying Grammie when someone suggested a picture of the 3 of them. Jane sat down, Andy sat down, and then Grammie sat down...right in the middle of the two of them. The conversation and action went something like this:
Jane: Grammie are you trying to steal my boyfriend?
Grammie: Turns to Andy and grabs his hands in hers...she then makes some attempt at flirting with him. She starts laughing and slowly throws herself back on Jane and gets a hug from her granddaughter. By this time, everyone was giggling and Andy's eyes were sparkling.
Grammie then sat up and "composed" herself to take the photo, looking as proper as she could being perched between Jane, her granddaughter, and Andy, her future husband.
It wasn't until I got the pictures developed that mom realized that the camera was rolling throughout her little antics. Sothis afternoon, the movie started me thinking about mom, about some of the events that shaped our lives....and I smiled. Mom was quite a woman...and she has left quite a legacy.
